Introduction
This article encapsulates my quick test drive of the Biscom Secure File Transfer (formerly known as Biscom Delivery Server - BDS) product. Biscom SFT is a solution that lets companies send any types of files privately and securely. It's an alternative to FTP and email and I found it really easy to use so just about any employee can send, manage and receive secure files of any size and type.

Biscom does not position SFT as a replacement for fax and rightfully so – it’s not. It is however, a way to ensure end-to-end security for files of all sizes and types including a way to collaborate with coworkers or peers. Their aim is to show the limitations of a company FTP server, by offering a superior and more elegant secure file transfer solution.

What it does: Using Biscom SFT, company employees can create, manage and send "packages" containing all types of files (documents, images, etc.) and deliver them safely and securely to any recipient. It has collaboration tools where you can setup project "workspaces" and reporting tools great for compliance requirements.

As far as integration capabilities: In addition to MS Outlook and SharePoint connectivity, Biscom SFT has a comprehensive API layer that supports Web services, .NET, Java, and SMTP, as well as scripting languages such as Ruby and Python.
