XMedius & AVST: A Merger out of Necessity?

Some recent and interesting news from Montreal. StoneCalibre, the privately -funded investment firm that owns XMedius, announced that it has has acquired Unified Communications vendor AVST.

The two companies have merged.

I spoke to Stephan Vidal, Vice President for Marketing & Communications at XMedius a couple of weeks ago. The merger will consolidate some of the overlapping business functions and they plan to leverage existing customers and their respective sales channels going forward.

What direction does the merger take XMedius and their future for fax?

According to Global Market Insights, Inc., the Unified Communications Market size is forecast to hit USD $96 billion by 2023.  On the other hand, cloud and computer-based fax markets are growing at modest double digits with much of the business driven by migrations to cloud solutions.

On the surface, it may seem that StoneCalibre investors are hedging their fax bet by broadening in to UC, complete with an established sales channel where cross-pollinating products and services make sense.

What does it suggest about their confidence in fax by itself however?

Staying power: Instant InfoSystems, Inc.

April 24, 2017 Albany NY -- Industry Analyst Mark Malone publishes a new article about Instant Info Systems, Inc.

There are not many value-added resellers in the fax software industry today that can claim they’ve lasted the test of time, enduring a series of tumultuous market crashes and business changes – and have lived to tell about it.  On top of that, how many can claim that despite a product that has faced certain death numerous times, they maintain a strong leadership position in delivering fax solutions to business customers of all sizes and industries today and well into this century?

Spanning three decades, a dot.com bust in 2000, 9/11, a mortgage industry collapse in 2007-2008 and a general malaise about fax technology overall, Instant InfoSystems (IIS) comes out on top of its game. And, they did this in the face of adversity when its largest supplier revamped its entire sales model and left IIS (and others) staggering in their wake.

Who is Instant Info Systems? Find out more, read the full article.

Fax:2020 Market Report Update - "It's Not About the Money"

Fax Vendor financial data is NOT an integral part of the Fax:2020 Report

Monday April 17, 2017 -- We here at Fax Over Cloud have been asked if providing revenue data is required for the Fax:2020 Market Report.

It is not. Revenue numbers provided are NOT comparative, and will not be listed specifically for this report. Generalizations may be used or inferred.

So why ask then?

We'd like to see how each vendor self-reports their financials so we can set a benchmark to use when asking our follow-up questions.

For more information please see the Fax:2020 FAQ here.
