Open Text and Message Manager

Open Text, (NQ: OTEX) the owners of the market leading RightFax product line, recently acquired Message Manager Solutions, an Australian Company who has apparently been handing OTEX their lunch down under and making waves with fax & messaging business in a country that was supposed to be dominated by OTEX's RightFax via their regional distributor, Axient.

I believe the acquisition was an excellent strategic decision made by Open Text and will help take back any lost ground they might have suffered in that vital region.

MM's "Made in Australia" tag line obviously reinforced their focus in Oz - in addition to a "Green" message and the benefits of fax that helps "Save the Planet". This, combined with a notable breadth of product offerings that span fax, voice and messaging makes MM a true adversary worthy of an acquisition by Open Text.

Message Manager boasts a decent breadth of products for fax & messaging including traditional Analog and IP Fax, On Demand Fax, Document Delivery, SMS, Voice & Speech as well. They have integrations to MFPs, SAP, Oracle and the popular email platforms like Exchange, Notes, Groupwise, etc.  - standard fare for any enterprise fax server product. Their customer list includes companies like 3M Australia, ABN AMRO, Nike, NestlĂ©, and National Australia Bank to name a few.

It will be interesting to see how OTEX blends in the MManager product line and the rest of the company for that matter. No indication has been made about if, when or even how they plan on doing this. Only time will tell.
